Quitting (or not)

I’m going to take my cue from Ali over at Austin to Africa for this week’s Sunday Scribbling.

Things that I have quit:

* Guitar lessons.
* Spanish lessons. It might not be the best idea to choose to study a new language “for fun” while in the midst of graduate school. I didn’t exactly give it my all.
* Taking sugar in my coffee.
* Sun tanning. I still love sun bathing, but only with lots of sun block and a little shade.
* Worrying too much about what others think.

Things I won’t ever quit:

* A cup of coffee in the morning.
* Learning German.
* Traveling and exploring new places.
* A satisfying and rewarding career path.
* Running.
* Obsessive reading.
* Challenging myself and not letting myself become complacent.

    I think it’s perfectly okay to quit things if they’re not making you happy — life is too short to waste your time! And I like the things you HAVEN’T quit doing… :)

    Too bad there aren’t more hours in the day! One has to give up some things to make way for others. And some attitudes (such as worrying about what others might think about you) are definitely quittable.
