I thought that once my German classes were over, I would have more time to blog about everything that is going on over here. Or maybe not.
Since the beginning of this week, we have begun a full month-long “orientation” program. On Monday, we heard all about the foundation that is supporting us and we presented our projects for the year (my first official presentation auf deutsch). Yesterday, we visited a museum of Germany’s history from immediately after the Second World War until today. As well as the Palais Schaumburg, which is the “second” official residence of Germany’s Chancellor. Back in the days when Bonn was the capital of West Germany (1949-1990), the Palais was the equivalent of the White House. It is still functional as a governmental building and is used when Angela Merkel is in Bonn.
I will be posting photos of all our adventures this month here. But for now, I need to run to a tour of Beethoven’s house, which will be a nice prelude to a concert tonight at the Beethovenhalle!
