UKE | Day of the Open Door

A brand new hospital, full of fancy equipment, opened its doors to the community yesterday. Beckoning us to come on in and take a look at the state-of-the-art operating and emergency rooms, intensive care stations, and neonatal units. What a treat for health geeks like me!

And what an opportunity to test out my camera in the real world and document all the shiny new equipment that I hope I never have to encounter as a patient!  I took zillions of photos and experimented with different settings on the camera.

About half-way through the hospital Rundgang, I realized that my white balance was set to “incandescent” lighting, which made the hospital’s already strong fluorescent lighting look even harsher in the photos. Oh well. That is part of the learning process, isn’t it?

Here are a few of my favorites (minus any editing):

I’m pretty happy with how they turned out, despite my haphazard guessing with the camera settings and such.  To see the full album of photos, click here.
