Expatriate Blogging

When I settled into Hamburg this past Fall, I sought out expat blogs in Germany just like I sought out my favorite markets, routes to work, and routines of daily life. Plugging into a community of other expatriates – whether it be the network of research fellows in my program, the other students in my German courses, or the blogs of folks who have decided for one reason or another to live in Germany — is an important way for me to keep life as a foreigner in perspective and to make sure I am not taking myself too seriously.

So imagine my delight when I hear news of the annual Expat Bloggers in Germany meet-up.  After reading accounts from previous years’ meet-ups, I am determined to attend in 2009!   For those interested, register here to join the discussion on location.

Greetings, and I’m glad you’ve found out about the Meet-Up. I’Ve been to every once since we started them in 2005 and they’ve all been a good time.
