Hannover Half Marathon | Week Four

So, four weeks down, eight to go.  I am glad that the days are getting longer and it is not so stressful to squeeze in an evening run right after work.  Today’s long run, though, threatened to be thwarted by the weather.  After waiting for awhile for the rain to dissipate, we decided to stop wasting time and just go.  The rain actually wasn’t that bad once we were out there running.  Nevertheless, we were glad when the sun appeared just after the half-way point of our 7-mile run.  Now I can be a lazy bum for the rest of the day and not feel so bad.

In other weekly news, I visited a new city this week: Osnabrück on Friday for a conference about a European project to improve services to women affected by interpersonal violence.  Fittingly enough, Osnabrück calls itself the city of peace, because the Peace of Westphalia was negotiated there in the 1640’s.

In the domestic excitement department: Our new mattress arrived this week, which is the first time since college that I’ve had a real, non-Ikea mattress.  The aches and pains in my neck and shoulders were crying out for something with more support.  Investing in a quality mattress seems like such an adult thing to do, but I guess at 31-years old, that’s perfectly okay.

Anyway, I’ve got some laziness to accomplish, so until next time!
