Five Senses Friday no. 27

As this post is being published, I’m far away from my laptop — and sitting in a train that’s making its way to a small town on the Polish border, to chill with friends for the weekend. (Don’t worry, the US vs. Ghana quarterfinal game is on the agenda for Saturday night.)  A change of scenery is long overdue, since the last few weeks have been primarily devoted to my German class and watching the World Cup.  Pictures will surely follow next week!

But in the meantime, how about a little review of the five senses?

Seeing:
* the Americans pull off a last minute goal to win their match against Algeria and advance to the World Cup quarterfinals. Woohoo!

Hearing:
* the song Irgendwo auf der Welt by the Comedian Harmonists. A total classic and I could hum it all day long.  You can listen to the original version recorded in 1932 here.

Tasting:
* sushi for my birthday dinner.

Smelling:
* flowers blooming everywhere.

Feeling:
* the warm breeze.

    That win against Algeria was awesome. I really wish the US was still in the running…

    Your description of being on the train was so wonderful. These World Cup games are best when shared with others, even if in the form of texts and email updates.
