Day 15 : Something or someone you can’t live without

Wow, there is such a long list of things I can actually live without.  I mean, I know I can go without the latest technological gadget — my first and only iPod is from 2003, and I held out on getting a cell phone until 2004.  At different points in my life, I’ve also been able to live without hot water, running water, and/or electricity.  And I spent all of the summer of 2003 in a town without any communication with the outside world other than through CB radio. So let me head in a more abstract direction.

What I never want to live without is that deep sense of connection to others — that feeling of knowing you’ve found where you belong, of being surrounded by those who understand you, who love you despite your faults (and maybe even because of them), and knowing you never have to explain yourself.  It took a long time to find my tribe,  and even though many of us are separated by oceans now, I can’t even imagine living without them.
