Advent starts this Sunday and so do the Weihnachtsmärkte! It’s no secret that I’m a major fan of the German Christmas Markets. I’ve devoted seemingly dozens of posts to them, and usually challenge myself to visit one or two new ones every year.
I’m such a sucker for the holiday atmosphere — the cold crisp air, the lights, the sweet smells, the little booths to buy holiday ornaments, and of course, the Glühwein. We’ll be in Hannover this weekend, so that’s where this year’s Christmas Market adventure will begin.
I can’t wait. Plenty of photos, Glühwein reviews, and stories to come!
We’re pretty thrilled that most of them will be opening up this weekend! Christmas markets make Christmas in Germany one of the nicest times of the year. :)
I couldn’t agree more! I love that despite the cold and the darkness, people still come out to celebrate. :)
I used to live in Hannover… enjoy!
Thanks for your comment and for stopping by! My partner grew up in Hannover and still has family and friends in the city, so we tend to spend a lot of time there for holidays and birthdays, etc. The Christmas markets this year were really nice! We visited the Finnish market, the Middle Ages market, and a fun little forest full of trees set up in the Altstadt.
Germany is my favourite place in the world at Christmastime! I love that even Edinburgh has a German Christmas market!
I really have to agree! I heard from a German friend about Edinburgh’s German Christmas market — sounds pretty authentic!
