Despite the terribly cold rainy weather, Hands On New York Day persevered and so did we — weeding a community garden in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. It’s rare that I get to play in the dirt in the city, so I actually enjoyed using my rain gear today.
(I’d like to take this opportunity to give a shout-out to Cari’s magical hiking boots…nary a drop of water has ever snuck through their exterior, even during our four-day trek of the Inca Trail during the rainy season.)
So anyway, now after napping the late afternoon away, I feel like I used to after my long runs — something akin to being hit by a truck. All I did was pull weeds, so I’m not sure what I did to deserve this. I plan to do some stretching and have a nice dinner, in the hopes that I can recover some energy in time for tomorrow’s race in the rain!
