The NY Times just published a moving tribute to Allan Rosenfield, Dean of the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University, which you should read here. During my time as a grad student, I thought it was a powerful statement that the Dean of the School had his origins in my department, the Deparment of Population and Family Health. He is not only a powerful force in the field of public health, he is also a tireless champion for a woman’s right to health and well-being across the globe. When he steps down as Dean, he will be missed, but the legacy he leaves will be evident all around the world. He’s truly an inspiration to me and everyone else in this field.
