Western Mass

Rachel, Suzanne and I had a lovely time up in Amherst, Massachusetts this weekend, thanks to the generosity and hospitality of Suzanne’s parents. It was so unbelievably relaxing (except for being rear-ended in Queens on our way out of the city) and lovely. We ran, we swam, we ate cider donuts. I couldn’t believe how quiet it could be and everything smelled so good.  Even though it was hot, hot is not so bad when you’re surrounded by trees instead of concrete.

I will let the pictures (click here for the full album) do most of the talking, but I do feel the need to share my favorite quote from the trip. While scarfing down a sandwich from Kushman’s after running 9 miles Sunday morning, Suzanne says,

“I can’t decide if this is the best thing I’ve ever eaten, or if I’m just hungry.”

Enough said.

Sounds (and looks) like you had a great trip. I am impressed that you are able to run in the heat and humidity. Anytime I try, I just feel like a fish out of water, gasping away and flopping idly about.

I thing everything, not just heat, is more tolerable when you’re surrounded by nature!
