Adele Bloch-Bauer I

At a visit this afternoon to the Neue Galerie, I was stunned by how beautiful Gustav Klimt’s painting Adele Bloch-Bauer I is in person. I am a Klimt fan, but I don’t think a painting has ever taken my breath away like this one. Prints simply don’t do the shimmering three-dimensional painting justice. If you’re anywhere near New York City, it is certainly worth the trip to the Upper East Side to see this, and other, fantastic works by Klimt.
