Well, it’s officially official (meaning the news is out at work and I can now blog about it with a clear conscience) — I’m moving to Germany at the end of June for a year-long fellowship to research their national policy against violence against women. It’s hard to put into words just how excited I am!
I’ll be based in Hamburg, and in addition to conducting my research, the fellowship provides two-months of intensive language instruction (before the fellowship officially begins), a study tour of Germany and Belgium, and a meeting with both their President and Chancellor (really, how cool is it to meet a head of state?).
This is a great step in my career, a fabulous means of improving my language skills, and it will be lovely to once again be in the same country as mein Schatz — but of course I will be a little sad to see my six years in New York City come to an end.
But no time to think of that now! I need to clean out my closets, donate a few items to Goodwill, sell a few other things, pack up my belongings, and prepare to become a resident of Germany in about 11 weeks.
That’s all for now, but you most certainly will hear lots more soon!
oh my god!! congratulations! That is absolutely amazing news! i am very very happy for you, and i am sure you will have a blast! YAY!

I’ve been remiss in getting to this post! I’m glad you’re finally able to announce what you’ll be doing. It sounds wonderful, and I’m sure you’ll have the time of your life while you’re over there. I can’t wait to read all about it. :)
