It’s no secret that I am a big fan of Improv Everywhere — remember when I blogged about the MP3 Experiment IV mission last summer?
So I was excited to participate in another mission last Friday that began outside in Foley Square at 9pm. If you were in the New York area, you know how miserable the weather was: rainy, cold, windy. Suzanne and I decided (against our better judgment) to participate anyway. The mission sounded cool — hundreds of agents line up across the Brooklyn Bridge and using the flash on everyone’s cameras, create a wave of flashes across the bridge and back that would be visible from the Manhattan Bridge.
Unfortunately, standing on the bridge for an hour while soaking wet and having our umbrellas blown inside-out kinda sapped the coolness of the event (and made us wonder what kind of suckers we are).
The picture above represents one of my flashes in the flash wave. If the IE site posts a video of the event – which promises to be much cooler than any one photograph (and I hope will redeem the misery of Friday night!) — I’ll let you know. Until then, you can check out Suzanne’s pics and the 1,127 other photos posted by agents who participated in the mission.
oh wow! that is SUCH a cool project!
I just saw a documentary with Improv Everywhere in it. I love the concept! Hey, they aren’t planning a super secret mission the week I visit, are they? I know, I know, you could tell me but then you’d have to kill me, yada yada. Can’t wait to see you and your lady friend (New York, that is). Mwa
