Today begins a whirlwind tour of Germany — 13 cities in 14 days, no less. Some will be quick stops and others will be extended stays. Some are quite famous (Brussels*, Munich, Weimar) and others I have never heard of (Leonberg, Rockenhausen). Nonstop bus travel with 30 American, Russian and Chinese research fellows. Tours of wineries and breweries. Visits to the European Commission, Mercedes-Benz, and the Bayerisch State Government headquarters.
Mein Schatz described it perfectly, “It’s like a Klassenfahrt [school trip] for adults.” Whatever you want to call it, I can’t wait! But it also means that I will not have a whole lot of internet access or spare time.
So I am going to try something new here: guest bloggers! Some good friends of mine will be taking over — Suzanne of Floribunda, Emily of Travel with Emily, and Kristen of the Schipani Degan Blog — to make sure No Apathy Allowed is not too lonely while I am away.
So I encourage you to stick around and enjoy the posts from these awesome women! See you in a couple weeks (with loads of pictures)…
* Yes, I know Brussels is in Belgium. But “whirlwind tour of Germany with a brief stop in Belgium” sounds awkward.
Are you a Humboldt fellow?
Sounds like a lot of fun. With so many cities in so little time, you can also haul out that old joke when crossing the border: Is it Tuesday already? This must be Belgium!
CN Heidelberg: Yes, I’m a German Chancellor Fellow through the Humboldt Foundation and am enjoying every minute of it! Are/were you also (or know someone who is)?
Ian: I have to admit I’ve never heard that joke before, but nevertheless really enjoyed my short time in Brussels!
