So, remember when I told you about my cousin, Todd, who is cycling across the U.S. to raise awareness of muscular dystrophy and money for his nephew’s medical care? Well, after starting off from Astoria, Oregon on June 26th, he has just about made it to Missoula, Montana. Seems to be a great adventure so far! I would highly recommend checking out Todd’s blog and twitter updates for lots more details, but I thought I would share a few of his Tweets here too:
June 26: Official ride started with a wheel dip in the Ocean (Cannon Beach). Beautiful Beach!!
June 26: Just rolled into Tillamook, today was harder than expected. 70 miles down… 4300 to go.
June 26: Rode til sunset today, long hard day 83 miles. Beautiful camp site on Ocean…$4.00 what a deal!
June 29: Unexpected day off in Salem yesterday, left knee bothering me. On the road to Eugene today, knee is a bit better.
July 2: Made it up the Santiam pass, elevation 4817. A very tough climb made even more difficult with too much gear. Lunch in Sisters now…onward.
July 3: Leaving Prineville, hillbound for the next 50 miles.
July 6: In Baker for a much needed rest day. Mailed home excess gear (why I packed 5 shirts is anybodies guess)!
July 13: Thank you Green Meadow Country Club (Helena Mt.) for hosting a very successful fundraiser this weekend!
July 13: I’ll be back on the bike today after a two day rest in Helena, weather permitting. It is very stormy, expecting heavy rain + hail.
July 14: Climbed the Whitebird Pass last night, fresh legs were a huge help. Stayed in Grangeville last nite- off towards Lolo Pass today.
Don’t forget, you can also participate in this great adventure! JaredSmiles.org is the website where you can see the route, learn more about Jared, and of course, make a donation.
