OCD

I promise, I really am working on my 32 Things to Do Before I’m 33.  But I have a few more items to add before it is ready for public viewing.

In other news, I finally bought my airline tickets to go to this conference in New Orleans, after endlessly obsessing over airline ticket prices and hotels.  I was hoping that the horrifying number of transfers between Hamburg and NOLA would somehow decrease (along with the price), but it just wasn’t to be.  It was time for the obsession to end and the purchasing and reserving to be done.

My obsessive hunt for tickets to NYC for a wedding (no, not mine) in September ended once I realized I could use frequent flyer miles if I arrived a day earlier, thank you very much.  That + crashing on the floor of some good friends = more money for Gorilla Coffee, Chocolate Room, sushi and shopping!

Something I have obsessed a little bit less over, but is definitely an object worthy of obsession, is my new 13″ MacBook Pro, which I just ordered (along with this drool-worthy protector sleeve).  As I mentioned over on Twitter, it is the first computer purchase I have made that was NOT brought about by the sudden death of a previous computer.  I am enjoying the lack of desperation and anxiety over being disconnected in between the old and the new.  It was also a bonus to be able to afford it without using a credit card (also a first), thanks to some birthday money and a nice hefty refund from the IRS.

Okay, we are off to a concert in the park.  Cross your fingers that it doesn’t rain, please.  Unlike the heat wave that some of you are experiencing, we are lucky if the temps make it into the 70’s lately.  Do I miss sweating through my clothes and being afraid of sitting down on the subway in case it will cause unsightly sweat marks on the back of my pants?  No.  But I wouldn’t mind being able to wear a few of my cute summer frocks.

Anyway.

  1. “I really am working on my 32 Things to Do Before I’m 33.” Sounds like a “PLAN” to me (a very timely post). Damn frequent flyer miles. They never, ever work for me -and I finally cancelled my American Airlines account as result. Bastards.

Amy: That’s a bummer, but sounds like the love affair with your iphone is making up for it!

Monica: Damn straight that’s a PLAN, and it’s a list of 32 other PLANS too, although I prefer to think of them as GOALS. ;) My frequent flyer miles didn’t work on the days I originally wanted to travel, but luckily I could easily extend my trip for a day to make it work — What? One more day in New York? With my best friends in the world? Okay, you convinced me.
