- We (meaning, not me) blew out our wireless router on Sunday afternoon, right before mein Schatz was about to catch a train out of town. Thus, I have spent the last four days with my laptop chained to our internet connection, and making amusing calls to our internet provider and router company (I don’t think the service rep liked it when I accidentally used the Du form with him) and taking trips to Media Markt (Ich bin doch nicht blöd).
- I’ve got an emergency training plan all laid out for the Hannover Half-Marathon. Yes, it’s only six weeks from now and my training has been sporadic at best. Maybe I’m getting complacent about running this distance? I could blame the terrible winter we’ve had — but mein Schatz has been training for a full-marathon all winter long and has run through the snow and on ice two-inches thick (while I sat at home on my butt and complained about the weather). When did I turn into such a wimp? Don’t answer that. Anyway, it’s nice out now and my neck doesn’t hurt anymore, so I’m BACK! I know I’ve said that before, but now I really have no excuses left.
- I finally confirmed my travel plans to DC next month. Because the travel is being covered by the foundation that supported my fellowship here, I needed to book my flights using their travel agency. Handing over control of my travel arrangements caused way more anxiety than it should have (can you say, OCD?). But at least I recognized it for what it was and let the nice ladies do their job.
- Hello, health care reform, I love you!
- I am soaring through A Thousand Splendid Suns right now. Despite the topic matter, it’s a much faster read than my last book. I’m loving it so far, but it’s not looking like it’s going to end well, and the story just makes my heart hurt.
All that, and it’s only Wednesday! What’s going on in your neck of the woods?
