There are oh-so-many items on my Life List — the place where I keep track of all those dreams and wishes for my lifetime, like:
- no. 5: Trek Kilimanjaro
- no. 22: Trace my family tree as far back as it can go.
- no. 26: Eat sushi in Japan
- no. 31: Do 5 pull-ups
- no. 55: Ride in a hot air balloon.
- and many, many more…
But I think my Life List is rather a manifestation or operationalization of what I actually hope to do in my life, like:
- Keep my heart and mind open and aware.
- Revel in change.
- Remain engaged in the world.
- Cultivate empathy.
- Be gentle.
- Be kind.
- Inspire others.
- Allow myself to be moved and inspired by others.
- Channel my gifts and energies into making a difference.
Looks like I just started a new kind of life list, one that isn’t so easily measured. Does any of this strike a chord with you? What do you hope to do in your life?

I have a list very much like your top one listing all the things I want to do. But I think at the end of my life I would like to look back and know that I really experienced life and through it all I was basically a good person.
