Seeing:
* my beautiful new boots on my feet. I couldn’t be happier!
Hearing:
* an episode of This American Life on my iPod on my commute to Hamburg. Seriously, that radio program is one of my favorite things in the world.
Tasting:
* a BLT sandwich at an Irish pub on Monday night — total lecker!
Smelling:
* a terrible burnt-plastic smell in one of our seminar rooms. Every week, actually. That can’t be good.
Feeling:
* almost perfectly solid on my right leg again. My limp is about 95% gone (when I concentrate on it) and I can go up stairs without needing to grip onto the hand railing (although I like to be within reach of it, at least). I still look pretty funny going down stairs, but it’s getting better every day. There’s still a ways to go before my leg is as strong as it was before the accident, but that should be something I can work on without a physical therapist. Only two more PT visits left!

I really like those boots!! And yum, I now have a craving for a BLT. And yay for improvement on your knee. I’m with you on the stairs – up the stairs isn’t as much of a problem as down the stairs.
Great idea of focusing on the 5 senses! How have I not heard of “This American Life”? Will have to check it out.
Emily: Thanks! Hope your recovery is also speeding along.
Laurel: It’s definitely worth checking out — such a gem!
I’m with you – This American Life is the best thing ever. Glad to hear about your recovery. Reading this post, I realize I’ve forgotten to keep up with Five Senses Fridays!
