The fives senses have taken on a new meaning this week, which has been all about listening to my body. After Sunday’s race, where my body gave everything it had, I should at least be respectful enough to listen to what it’s telling me: slow down and recover. I so wanted be out there doing recovery runs, but except for a short, speedy run on Wednesday, I’ve been R.esting, I.cing, C.ompressing, and E.levating my heart out. Hopefully that’ll let me have some fun on my favorite trails in Hannover’s endless parks this holiday weekend!
This week’s highlights, five senses style…
Seeing:
* everyone’s fantastic photos on instagr.am. Now that they’ve developed an app for Android, I’m obsessed!
Hearing:
* silence as our institute got emptier and emptier as the week went on. Holidays weekends are taken very seriously in these parts.
Tasting:
* lots of salad. Thank goodness for our cafeteria’s salad bar, otherwise I’d have to resort to the sausage, cabbage, and fried cheese that it otherwise serves.
Smelling:
* beautiful lilies left for us by a neighbor.
Feeling:
* soreness in the joints around both feet.
