What a Difference a Season Makes

There’s no secret about it: I am in love with our balcony.  It’s sunny and bright.  I can watch all the goings-on along our bustling street.  It’s perfect on warm mornings for breakfast, and gets the glowing early evening sun.  Also, mein Schatz (I can’t claim any credit here) has painstakingly tended our flowers and plants throughout the Spring and Summer — and now we have a blooming, gorgeous balcony garden to call our own!

I looked back at some photos from Spring, shortly after we had moved in. Here’s a little snapshot of the sweet beginnings:

And here is what it looks like today:

I am so blown away by how our plants have thrived and grown!  It’s almost hard to believe, isn’t it?  It makes it such a lovely green space to spend time in the middle of a big city.  (Now I’m just crossing my fingers that we still have some days of sun left to enjoy it!)

Having you been gardening this season?  What do you do when you need a little more green in your life?

Nice! I’d like to grow flowers on our balcony, but edible things always seem to win out over them. Our tomatoes have been super delicious this summer.

  2. @Jul: I would love to grow our own fruits and veggies — I was so jealous of friends that could eat their own produce during the EHEC outbreak! Maybe someday. :)
@Mom: It definitely feels like our own little yard, it’s great.
