As promised, here is my first official run down on how I’m doing so far on my 30 Things To Do Before I Turn 31. I’m hoping to make this a monthly update, so stay tuned!
9. Switch primary care providers.
I actually went in today for my first general check-up with my new PCP, and I am very pleased that I made the switch. I knew it wasn’t too much to ask for a doctor who can listen to you, even when they’re in a hurry.
18. Figure out how to transfer the 1,000+ songs from my iPod to my new laptop’s empty iTunes program.
It would have taken me a long time to figure this out if it wasn’t for Dave‘s help and a cool program called Sharepod. Thanks!
19. Participate in Self Portrait Challenge at least once a month.
Check out my two self-portraits under August’s challenge of “pattern.” One uses the bottom of the McCarren Park Pool and the other the tiles of my fireplace.
20. Bring cloth bags to the grocery store and bag my own groceries at least 75% of the time.
I thought this would be a big pain in the neck, but it actually is pretty easy — as long as I remember to go home first before grocery shopping (since I usually don’t carry canvas bags in my purse). And it makes me feel great not to bring home eight plastic bags along with my purchases.
25. Participate in an Improv Everywhere mission.
Mission accomplished! Check out my lengthy post on the mission here, and Improv Everywhere’s report here. I definitely want to do more of these!
30. Finally sign up for renter’s insurance.
After five years of living in the city, I finally got my act together.
