Grateful Thursday

Since today is the day when Americans give thanks, I thought I’d co-opt Grateful Friday for Thanksgiving Thursday. Traditionally, Americans have this hokey/lovely tradition of going around the Thanksgiving dinner table and saying what they are thankful for. But times are a-changing, and that tradition has grown to include the blog world! Today I’ve been reading about giving thanks in Mozambique, Illinois, Seattle, Washington, D.C., and Paris. So why not add Brooklyn into the mix?

I am grateful for a four-day weekend. One of the benefits of working for a non-profit social service organization is that they give you plenty of holidays and vacation days. They don’t want you to burnout from the work (which is often the case) and they use it as a form of compensation (’cause they’re not rolling in dough, you know). Hey, I’ll take it. Since the next couple of months at work are going to be intense, I’m hoping to rest, restore and revive before that all begins.

That being said, I am grateful for the direction my career is heading in and grateful for the nurturing and development from my supervisor. I just celebrated my third anniversary at this organization, and I am in a a really good place and excited about my growth and the opportunities open to me.

I am also grateful for my friends that have offered to share their families and celebrations with me for the holidays. (The trip back home to Seattle is just a tad too far away for the crazy Thanksgiving holiday travel weekend.)

And of course, I’m grateful for my wonderful network of family, friends, and loved ones around the world. Happy Thanksgiving!

Your photo of pie has my mouth watering.

It’s good to be grateful, and even better to share the details of our gratitude with others.

    :)
