City Center

Beethoven Haus
Beethoven’s house

Last night was all about celebrating the upcoming wedding of a couple in our group of fellows, German style. It involved lots of humiliation for the bride and groom: costumes and signs, exchanging roses for kisses with strangers, and selling songs and condoms on the street for a Euro or so. Good times.  I also discovered a yummy Moroccan restaurant that I will definitely have to visit again.

I woke up on the late side of this morning, but still was able to do a little sightseeing this afternoon. First, I toured the house where Beethoven was born (one of Bonn’s most famous residents). Although I was there over a decade ago, it was definitely worthwhile to walk through it again.  Hanging out with the pianos that Beethoven actually played was unbelievably cool.  As was reading letters that he wrote and checking out what his musical scores looked like.  And since the Beethoven Geburtshaus is in the middle of the city center, I also explored the open air market in front of the Old Town Hall and ate some pommes in the square.

Until later!
