32 Things: Update Four

I’m coming into the home stretch of my 32 Things list, and can already tell which things are and aren’t going to be happening this year. More on that later, but in the meantime, how about I fill you in on a few things that I have been making progress on:

5. Read five of the books on my reading list. Two down: My Name is Red and A Thousand Splendid Suns. I am now working on Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman by Haruki Murakami.

21. See Ben Harper in concert again. By absolute chance, we found out he is the opening act for a show we already have tickets for in Berlin in June. Really, how much better does it get than that?

22. Visit my newest nephew once he makes his arrival in the world. Had a wonderful trip home to see family in March.

As of late, I’ve been very inspired by the idea of a Life List (like over here and here), mostly because it would let me include things that are bigger and grander than I could handle in one year. At the same time, I still like the immediacy and some of the practicality of the birthday lists (see 30 Things and 31 Things). So, I’m contemplating the possibility of doing both, but: Should they overlap? Is that too many lists? Would that get too complicated?

If you have any thoughts, let me know!

I’m actually debating the same thing – whether to do a 33 Things list or a 101 in 1001 list or both… Either way I think you can definitely overlap!! :)

I love the idea of a life list as well as a birthday list. Perhaps I’ll make one…or I suppose I could just kick the little list I wrote when I was 14 into action! :)

It looks like you started doing “30 Things” (and then “31 Things,” etc) before they started to get ultra-popular — I’ve seen a lot more of them in the past year or so. I’ve been collecting ideas for a Life List for a few months now, but I haven’t published it formally (on my blog). Maybe I will, maybe I won’t…haven’t decided yet. I’ve become a lot more private as of late, it seems. But List Lists aren’t quite as private as writing about my dating life and such, I suppose. :)
