One of the many things I love about life in Deutschland is the sincere appreciation of every single warm, summer day. Sun and warmth are most definitely not taken for granted, at least not here in the north of Germany. In Hamburg, I was often scolded by colleagues for working while the weather was so beautiful.
This past week, summer weather has been nearly perfect here in Bremen, and the offices at the university have been accordingly empty. Chores and errands have all been abandoned. Who knows how long the sun will last? Today is the day for eating ice cream, grilling in the park, swimming in the lake, and sitting in the sun!
So I took a stroll along the Werdersee and soaked up the Bremen summer fun with my camera and a scoop of strawberry ice cream…
How is summer enjoyed in your corner of the world? What’s your favorite thing to do when the weather is perfect?

Well, Berlin is kind of the opposite: everyone tries to work the least he can, no matter what the weather is, and no one gets scolded for it ;-P
You may be on to something there. :)
