30 days of yoga (for people who are too busy to do yoga)

5. Participate in Marianne Elliott‘s 30 days of yoga.

The days until my birthday are ticking down, and so is the time to accomplish what remains on my 33 Things list.  But one thing I just couldn’t put off any longer was participating in one of Marianne Elliott’s online 30 days of yoga courses — and when she recently introduced a course for people who are too busy to do yoga, I knew my moment had come.

I’ve always been intrigued my yoga and by people who do yoga.  I’ve given yoga a try several times over the years, but never consistently enough to really get the hang of it or enjoy the benefits.  I have mostly been content with running and convinced myself that if I’m going to devote time to fitness, I should devote it to running.  But my flexibility, focus and core strength are all things that get ignored when I do nothing else but run.  And of course, I always use my work and travel as excuses not to build yoga into my schedule.

So June is my month where I will be using the course to slowly integrate at-home yoga into my everyday routine.  I hope to be able to chart my progress here a bit, at least for accountability’s sake.  I look forward to sharing this new adventure with you!

Hello there, me again :) Trust me, do the yoga! You will learn to love it. But I think taking a class with a live instructor who will correct your poses ever-so-slightly will be even more eye-opening. Enjoy!

    • @Repatriated Expat: Thanks! I totally agree about the benefits of live instruction, and hope that after starting small at home I will have the courage (and discipline) to practice more regularly with others.

I’m going to do this with you! I’m going online right now to buy my session. Thanks for the motivation — I’ve been dying to get back into yoga since Nico was born, but never ever make the time for it.

Your place is looking awesome, by the way! I had a chance to look at all your photos and it looks like a fantastic apartment. Congratulations!

Good for you!! I’ve gone through phases with yoga – I’ll be consistent with it and then I drop it. I want to pick it back up and do it consistently. Maybe this will be my motivation.

Former Long Islander, now living in countryside outside Rome, also doing 30 days of yoga (regular flavor). Hope you’re doing well so far. I have yet to do mine today, but usually do my practice first thing in the a.m. I’d better get upstairs NOW and do it!! Nameste, Diane

    • @Diane Thanks so much for your comment! After letting the whole day get away from me and wanting now to simply climb into bed, your comment has inspired me to take a few extra minutes to ground myself with yoga. Wishing you well in this little journey of ours!
