December 20 Beyond avoidance. What should you have done this year but didn’t because you were too scared, worried, unsure, busy or otherwise deterred from doing? (Bonus: Will you do it?) (Author: Jake Nickell)
Take swimming lessons (again). Practice daily meditation. Travel to Norway to meet the Norwegian side of my family. Take a photography course. The (life) list goes on and on, with quite a few items that have been there for awhile as I successfully manage to postpone them from one year to the next.
It doesn’t make sense actually. I want to do all these things, but somehow I’m not taking action to make any of it happen. One day turns into the next, and often I’m too focused on the here and now — the things which must be done — to see the bigger picture of what these goals really mean to me: conquering my fears; searching for focus; discovering my roots; developing new gifts.
When I look at it from this perspective, it makes me realize how much I’ve been avoiding that could really enrich my life. It’s time for some deliberate action. Can’t wait to get 2011 started on the right foot!

I completely agree! It’s entirely too easy to get lost in day-to-day things and forget to take the steps we need to take to get the bigger things done. I struggle with this all the time.
Glad I’m not the only one! Thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog.
